Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the breakage of the secondary air passage due to the abnormal rise of the pressure in an intake air passage by installing a valve mechanism which prevents the pressure over a prescribed value from being applied to an air control valve from the intake air passage side, in the secondary air passage on the downstream from the air control valve.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure valve 30 is fitted midway on the secondary air passage 14 of which one end is opened to an intake air passage 10. The valve piece 30a of the pressure valve 30 is pushed by a spring 30b, and when the pressure in the passage 14 is below a prescribed value, the valve is closed. When backfire is formed, and a throttle valve 12 is in closed state, the pressure in the intake air passage 10 on the downstream increases sharply temporarily and transmitted also to the passage 14. At this time, the valve piece 30a is pushed, and the pressure valve 30 is opened, and the passage 14 communicates with the air through the pressure valve 30, so the pressure in the passage 14 does not increase over the fixed value. Therefore, breakage of the passage 14, slip-off of piping, and breakage of an air control valve 16 can be prevented.
