Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the storagibility of a layer-built dry battery, by allowing a block, which has been obtained by stacking battery elements and shaping the same under pressures, to stand under a reduced pressure in order to remove any air contained in the block and then applying a desired sealing cover to the thus-deaired block. CONSTITUTION:Each battery element 7 is formed by interposing a separator 5 between a zinc plate 1 of a carbon-zinc bound electrode 3 containing a carbon film 2 formed on one of the surfaces of the zinc plate and a positive electrode compound 4, adding thereto an electrolyte principally containing zinc chloride, and hermetically covering the same with a heat-shrinkable tubing 6. Then, a desired number of such battery elements are stacked and shaped under pressures into a block. The block is then allowed o stand under a reduced pressure, thereby removing air from the block. The thus-deaired block is then dipped in a sealing bath containing wax to form a layer of the sealing material on the surface of the block. Over the layer of the sealing material, the heat-shrinkable tubing is further applied.
