Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound extracted and isolated from a plant of the genus Morus [kuwanon G[Elementary analysis (%): C, 66.95; H, 5.30. Melting point (decomposition): 213W219°C. Specific rotatory power: [α]D22=-534° (C= 0.232, methanol)] and kuwanon H [Elementary analysis (%): C, 69.62; H, 5.85. Melting point (decomposition): 186W190°C. Specific rotatory power: [α]D22= -536° (C=0.166, methanol)]. Both are light yellow noncrystalline solid. Positive to the ferric chloride and magnesium chloride reactions, etc.].
USE: A hypotensive agent.
PROCESS: An extract from a plant of the genus Morus is treated with the polyamide resin column chromatography using a mixed solvent of water with a polar solvent as an eluting solvent and subjected to the silica gel column chromatography and silica gel separating thin layer chromatography to isolate and purify the titled compound. The compound is assumed to be a compound of formula I or II (R is H or formula III).
