Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for β-blockers, in high yield and purity by easy reaction operations, by using easily available raw materials 3-aminocyclohexenone with acrylic acid under heating.
CONSTITUTION: 3-Aminocyclohexenone of formulaIis reacted with acrylic acid in the absence of a solvent or in a suitable solvent at 100W150°C for 1W6hr under heating to give 3,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydrocarbostyril-5-one of formula II. The reaction is preferably carried out in te absence of the solvent.
EFFECT: No special reaction apparatus is required, and the aimed compound can be easily separated and purified.
