Abstract

PURPOSE:To control slagging conditions and improve the rate of simultaneous hitting rate by calculating slag height from the vibrations of an oxygen top-blown lance and controlling the flow rate of top blowing oxygen, and the flow rate of bottom blown stirring gas at the time of blowing in converter steel making. CONSTITUTION:During blowing, a lance 1 receives the vibrations produced by foaming of slag 7. These vibrations are detected with the vibrator 9 mounted in the upper part of the lance 1 and the information thereof is processed in a signal processing unit 2, whereby slag height is calculated. Based on the result of this calculation, a lance motor 6 and a top blowing oxygen flow rate control valve 5 provided to an oxygen piping 12 are controlled, whereby the lance action of adjusting the height of the lance 1 and the flow rate of oxygen is carried out. The bottom blown gas control valve 4 provided to a gas piping 11 for stirring is opened and closed to control the stirring of molten steel 8 and slag 7, whereby the foaming of the slag 7 is controlled. By this method, the higher yields of iron sources, the longer life of refractories, etc. are achieved.
