Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a safety of LNG storage tank by a method wherein a nonpermiable thin film is inserted into a thermal insulating layer below the inner tank bottom plate and a foamed insulator having a concaved leaked liquid discharging pipe is arranged on the outer tank bottom plate between the insulator layer and the outer tank side plate.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid flowed from the inner tank bottom part is discharged along the thin film 6 into a region 10, the discharged liquid from the side part is flowed down along the blanket 13 and the outer surface of the inner tank side plate 3 and collected in the region 10. The evaporated gas of leaked liquid collected in the region 10 is raised in the blanket 13, discharged at the safety valve 17 and the liquid is finally discharged from a leaked liquid discharging pipe 12 to a desired place outside the tank. Thereby, it is possible to improve a safety of the unit with a simple structure.
