Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an uncontact sealing effect in an electronic copying machine by providing two permanent magnets respectively on an inner shaft from the bearing and on a container wall near the inner shaft, both magnets arranged to oppose the same magntic pole so that a magnetic powder of a developer is prevented from flowing to the bearing by the magnetic field generated by the magnets.
CONSTITUTION: The shaft 2a of a feed roll 2 of a magnetic brush deveoping unit 1 of the electronic copying machine is supported by the bearing 3 mounted on a side frame 1a. Inside of the developing unit 1, the annular permanent magnet 5 is provided beside the inner side of the bearing 3 through a bush 4. The permanent magnet surrounds the shaft 2a loosely. The shaft 2a is mounted with another permanent magnet 6 so as to oppose the permanent magnet 5 with a little space therebetween. In this instance, the opposing poles of the respective permanent magnets are the same. Thus, magnetic fields 7 and a repulsive magnetic field 8 are generated, which prevents the magnetic powder of the developer within the developing unit 1 from going out to the bearing 3. Therefore, a sealing is established at the bearing in an uncontact state.
