Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the thin, uniform skin pass oil film over the surface of steel strip to be rolled, by previously interposing the oil impregnated sheet between the coiled steel strips, and by carrying out the skin pass while rolling up this oil impregnated sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The sheet 9 impregnated the skin pass oil is previously interposed between the steel strips 8 which is then coiled into the tension reel 31 installed on the feed side of the work rolls 11, 12. With advance of skin pass operation, the oil impregnated sheet 9, included in the rotating steel strip coil 8, is rolled up by the paper winder 10. According to this method, the declination of working environment and the loss of rolling miss oil, both being caused by splashing the rolling mill oil, can be prevented. Moreover, the amount of rolling mill oil to be supplied between the work rolls 11, 12, and the steel strip 8 is uniformized, and also the product strip's elongation given by the skin pass operation is stabilized; hereby, the material quality of product is made constant.
