Abstract

PURPOSE:To controllably and vertically offset the position of web without harming whole shape of the rolled product, by relatively sliding the position of center of upper or lower horizontal roll of a universal rolling mill toward the feed-in side or the run-out side. CONSTITUTION:The said universal rolling mill comprises the horizontal rolls 21, the vertical rolls 22 and the edging rolls 23; in which the lower horizontal roll 21A is provided with a slide 24 comprising a hydraulic cylinder, etc., for sliding the lower horizontal roll 21A toward the feed-in side or the rut-out side of the mill. An H-beam blank 10A comprising the web 11A and flanges 12A is passed through the rolls 21 and 22 on purpose to controllably offset the web 11A from the central axis of the blank 10A. Then, the upper and lower legs of the flange 12A are exactly roll-formed, and an H-beam 10B provided with vertically asymmetrical web 11B and flanges 12B is obtained.
