Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely prevent a throttle valve from freezing at start of a cold engine by disposing an electric heater in a body of a carburetor at a point in the vicinity to a throttle valve which is opened for idling or warming up the engine.
CONSTITUTION: A body 1 of a carburetor consists of separate elements. They are a main shell 2 wherein a venturi tube is formed and a lower shell 4 which contains a throttle valve 3. A slow port chamber 5, a slow port 6, an idle port 7 and an adjusting screw 8 are formed inside the lower shell 4. A fuel passing through a low- speed fuel passage 9 is delivered into the slow port chamber 5 and sucked through the idle port 7 into an intake passage 10. Depending on an opening of the throttle valve 3, an additional fuel is sucked through the slow port 6 into it. Disposed in the vicinity of the slow port 6, an electric heater 12 is stuck to the end of a tap 11 of the slow port chamber 5 to project, thereby surely preventing freezing at low temperatures.
