Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a mold while preventing the occurrence of mold cracking owing to the expansion of a pattern by sticking a material of high dielectric constant on the surface of the microwave absorptive pattern material coated with a microwave permeable material, then performing microwave heating.
CONSTITUTION: A pattern 1 shown by (a), (b) in the figure is formed by using a microwave absorptive pattern material (e.g.; wax). Next, this pattern 1 is coated several times with an ethyl-silicate-base slurry normally used in a lost wax method and an inorg. refractory material (e.g., alumina), whereby a mold shell is formed. Thence, the entire part of the pattern coated with this refractory shell 2 is held for a predetermined time in a chamber saturated with a material of high dielectric constant, for example, steam, after which microwaves are irradiated to the entire part by ordinary means. The pattern 1 is melt-removed by this microwave irradiation to produce the mold.
