Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain energy from waves in a simple and economical manner, by communicating a main and an auxiliary upright cylinders to each other at their bottoms, and fixing load members having different weights respectively at the top of piston rods for each cylinder, in the manner that they can be moved vertically in accordance with the level of water surface.
CONSTITUTION: A main and an auxiliary cylinders 1, 2, respectively having load members 6, 7 of different weights attached to piston rods 5, 5, are communicated to each other via a connecting pipe 3. An intake stop valve 8 is disposed at the bottom of the main cylinder 1 and a discharge stop valve 9 is disposed at the joint portion of the main cylinder 1 and the pipe 3. Further, pressurized water ports 10 are disposed at the bottom of the auxiliary cylinder 2. With such an arrangement, when the surface rises, the load member 6 of the main cylinder 1 is moved upward while the load member 7 of the auxiliary cylinder 2 is moved downward under its own weight for keeping the balance, so that water is discharged from the ports 10 and pumped up. On the other hand, when the surface lowers, the member 6 is moved down, so that water is introduced into cylinder 2 and discharged from ports 10. At the same time, the load member 7 is moved upward by a corresponding distance. By thus repeating the above operation in accordance with the movement of water surface, it is enabled to discharge and pump up water from the ports 10.
