Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a yield rate of long scaled wire rods when removing their surface flaw, by displacing a peeling die toward a detected position of flaw, accurately further automatically cutting and removing only a part of the flaw. CONSTITUTION:A wire rod 2 fed out from a supply stand 1 is corrected into a straight shape through a group of correcting rollers 3. Further a position of flaw generated longitudinally and circumferentially of said wire rod 2 is detected by an automatic flaw detector 4, and this detected signal operates an oil hydraulic cylinder 15 in an automatic partially cutting machine 6 through a flaw position command device 5. This operation causes a housing 11 in said cutting machine 6 to make a tilting motion or a peeling die 8 to make a tilting motion through a slide on a plane crossing at a right angle with a forwarding direction of the wire rod 2 or to move on said plane, then a cutting face 8b of the peeling die 8 is displaced toward the flaw position to automatically perform cutting work only for this flaw part.
