Abstract
PURPOSE:To reject all surface flaws of wire rods with simple constitution easily and to prevent the lowering in the yield of products, by effectively combining a crack finder, full external circumference cutting device and partial cutting device for wire rod. CONSTITUTION:An automatic crack finder 4 passes through after a drawing die 9 and the parts of surface flaws are found. After the crack finder 4, the entire external circumference of a primary processed wire rod 2b is cut and removed in the depth more than the crack finding depth limit of the crack finder 4 with a full external circumference cutting device 5 and this is taken as a secondary processed wire rod 2c. At the rear stage of the device 5, a signal of flaw position at lengthwise and circumferential direction of the primary processed wire rod 2b is sent to an automatic partial cutting device 6 via a flaw position command device 4a from the crack finder 4. The device 6 automatically cuts only the wire surface of the flaw position and this is taken as a final processed wire rod 2d and sequentially wound on a winder 7.
