Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively utilize a metallic material to be used, and to avoid waste, by temporarily shunting a billet being standard size or less, of the first long billet, and making it press-contact with a position where a defective part of the start end part of the second long billet has been cut off. CONSTITUTION:The end side Y in case of casting is set in front, the first long billet X1 is fed to a cutting position CL, and the part Y is cut off. A billet L of standard length is cut in order, and a defective part Z of the end part (the front end side in case of casting) is cut off. In many cases, an end material A1 being standard size or less is produced, and it is shunted temporarily to a position P shown by a dotted line from the cutting position CL. The second long billet X2 is cut off as to its defective part Y at the cutting position CL, the shunted end material billet A1 is made to press-contact with the start end part of the second long billet X2, an end material A2 whose total length with the end mateial A1 becomes standard size is cut off from the start end part of the billet X2, and after that, the standard size billet L is cut off in order from the second long billet. Extrusion working is performed by inserting the short cut billet into an extruding machine.
