Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase and uniformalize rabbling capacity by putting a ladle containing molten steel into a vacuum vessel, heating the same, inserting a suction pipe into the molten steel and displacing the same vertically.
CONSTITUTION: A ladle 1 containing molten steel is put into a vacuum vessel 2, and is heated with an electrode 7 for resistance heating. While the inside of the vessel 2 is being evacuated with an exhaust pipe 6, a suction pipe 10 is inserted into the molten metal in the ladle 1. An inert gas is blown out from a conduit 20 for inert gas in the lower part of the suction pipe 10. The inert gas ascends in the hole 18 of the suction pipe 10, and sucks up the molten metal which then overflows from above the suction pipe 10. Thereby, the gas contained is expelled; in addition, the molten metal falls to the slag surface and rabbles the slag, thereby accomplishing desulfurization and deoxidation reaction. If the suction pipe 10 is submerged into the molten steel, the rabbling of the entire part of the molten steel may be uniformly accomplished. The insertion and removal of the suction pipe are carried out by driving the guide bar 11 fixed to the suction pipe 10 via a gear 13 by means of a driving device 12.
