Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the conveyance amount of carrierless toner by applying voltages between carrier rollers, consisting of a developing roller and electrically conductive fur brush and between respective carrier rollers with potential gradients. CONSTITUTION:The 1st carrier roller 15, the 2nd carrier roller 16 and the developing roller of developing device 10 are rotated, as shown by arrow (u), in slide contact with each other while generating friction, and electric power source 18 applies the 1st carrier roller with a voltage of about 0V, the 2nd carrier roller with that of about 150V, and the developing roller with that of about 300V. Through the 1st carrier roller, toner supplied from toner supply part 24 to the 1st carrier roller, while charged by friction, is stuck to the 2nd carrier roller higher in potential and then supplied to the developing roller similarly. The carrier rollers are electrically conductive foamed polyurethane roller provided with electrostatically implanted rayon. As the developing roller, a roller with a lubricious surface may be used.
