Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a glass composition suitable for a bulb such as a circular fluorescent lamp by blending a specified amount of SiO2, Al2O3, Na2O+K2O, PbO, CaO+MgO, SrO, etc. and reducing the content of PbO.
CONSTITUTION: This glass composition consists of, by wt., 55W70% SiO2, 0.5W 4% Al2O3, 13W19% Na2O+K2O, 3W19% PbO, 0W3% CaO+MgO, 0W2.5% BaO, 3W10% SrO, 0W3% B2O3, 0W2% Li2O, 0W0.5% Sb2O3 and 0W0.5% As2O3. The content of PbO in this composition is specified to the 3W19% range where the composition holds characteristics as a bulb without lowering the workability. Using the composition glass for a bulb with superior bendability, softening point, thermal expansion coefft., weather resistance, etc. is obtd.
