Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled material which is melted in a flame at once and gives a superior sprayed layer by blending an Al compound and an Mg compound in a specified ratio followed by calcination at a low temp. and pulverization to a suitable grain size. CONSTITUTION:An Al compound corresponding to 10-90% Al2O3 and an Mg compound corresponding to 10-90% MgO are blended. An adequate amount of a reaction accelerator may be added to the blend. This blend is formed into a suitable shape and calcined at a low temp. such as 1,000-1,650 deg.C in a kiln to obtain a spinel material for spraying contg. many open pores and having high chemical activity. The material is pulverized to a suitable grain size and used. When the material is sprayed, it is melted in a flame at once, so that resulting sprayed layer is dense and excellent in adhesion, corrosion resistance and spalling resistance.
