Abstract
PURPOSE: A deozonizer which is excellent in deozonizing capability, thermal stability, mechanical strength, and water resistance, prepared by baking a mixture com- posed mainly of activated carbon, clay, and one or more of alkalimetals and alkaline earth metal compounds.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of approx. 5 to 40 wt% activated carbon of a specific surface area of approx. 500 to 2000 m2/g, approx. 45 to 95 wt% clay, and 0.l to 10 wt% one or more of alkali or alkaline earth metal salts or a mixture of these, e.g., sulfates such as Na2SO4, CaSO4, etc., nitrates such as NaNo3, Mg(NO3)2, etc., phosphates, acetates, oxalates, and so forth, is mixed, as needed, with ≤5 wt% a Mn compound such as MnSO4, etc., and then mixed with water to obtain a paste. The paste is molded and then the molding or its crushed product is baked at approx. 240°C or more for 30 min to 3 hours in the atmosphere of an inert gas.
