Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of casting defects such as scabe and sand inclusion by adding and compounding a water-soluble phenolic resin into a mold coating material.
CONSTITUTION: When a water-soluble phenolic resin is compounded in the mold coating material, the coating layer has virtually no tendency to soften, shrink and harden even at high temperatures. As a result, the coating material surface remains stable against high temperatures, and does not cause any peeling phenomena, hence it produces no molding defects. Since this material withstands glue molds as well, it is used frequently today. It is also usable for furan resins, CO2 molds, etc. and prevents casting defects by mold coating materials.
