Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Molten cast steel contg. 0.10W0.14% C and 0.02W0.10% V is deoxidized with an Al-Ca-Si alloy or a composite deoxidizer consisting of Al and Ca-Si prior to casting to prepare a composition contg. 0.40W1.00% Si, 0.80W1.60% Mn, 0.02W0.15% Al and 10W70ppm Ca. By this composition the mechanical characteristics such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and reduction of area of the steel are enhanced as cast without carrying out any heat treatment, and castings can be used as cast.
