Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a simply constructed electrode with a uniform glow discharge by allowing electricity to be discharged through a resistor provided in layers, the resistor being adjacent to the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A long cathode 10 is provided in parallel with an anode 4, and a resistor 11 in layers is provided in the position opposite to the anode 4 and adjacent to the cathode 10. In a laser device so constructed, voltage is applied to the cathode 10 and anode 4 from a power source 1 for causing a glow discharge to occur to obtain a laser output 7. A glow 8 generated by the glow discharge is uniformly distributed since the electrodes have not been separated, and a uniformly distributed discharge is obtained. In addition, since the discharge current is not concentrated in the cathode, more current can be made to flow. As a result, a strong discharge is permitted to occur, while the output of a laser device can be raised.
