Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled fiber in which the polypropylene polymer is stabilized by adding specific amounts of a specific polyhydric phenol and a hydrogen halide absorber thereto, thus showing resistance to washing with a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent and high stability against oxidation and heat and preventing the formation of rust in the forming machine.
CONSTITUTION: A polypropylene is combined with 0.05W1wt% of a compound of the formula (R1 1W6C lower alkyl; R2 is H, 1W6C lower alkyl; n, m is 0, integer of 1W8; k is integer of 1W6; X is 1W12C straight or branched hydrocarbon which may bear one or several free hydroxyls), 0.05W1wt% of a mono- or divalent low- molecular-weight hydroxybenzene and 0.05W1wt% of a hydrogen halide absorber such as calcium stearate and they are melt spun to produce the objective fiber.
