Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve heat resistance together with antistatic properties, by a method wherein a sulfonate cpd. having an inorg. matter content of not more than a specified amount or said sulfonate cpd and a polymer or an oligomer having a specified MW and a specified softening point is/are incorporated into a high-molecular cpd.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfonate cpd. of formula I [wherein R is 6W20C alkyl; R' is 1W18C alkyl, alkenyl or a radical of formula II (wherein R" is H, CH3; n is a positive integer); M is alkali or alkaline earth metal] is purified to reduce the inorg. matter content thereof below 1wt%, pref. 0.2wt%. When the sulfonate cpd. alone is used as an antistatic agent, 0.2W3wt% of the cpd. is added to a high-molecular cpd. (e.g. polypropylene, polyester). When 0.2W10wt% of a polymer or an org. oligomer having a number-average MW of not less than 350 and an m.p. or a softening point of not higher than 180°C is blended with the high-molecular cpd. in order to improve the dispersibility of the antistatic agent, the sulfonate cpd. is blended with the high-molecular cpd. in such a proportion as to give a ratio of the antistatic agent to the sum of the antistatic agent and the oligomer or the polymer of 5:95W60:40. The compsn. contributes to the prevention of thread breakage during melt spinning of a heat-resistant synthetic fiber.
