Abstract
PURPOSE: A cooler designed to reduce the coagulation of tar and improve the cooling efficiency, in which the tube wall temperature of heat transfer tubes is kept at a coaqulation temperature of droplets, e.g. tar, or above, and the recovered tar is sprayed on a scrubber connected to the bottom of the heat transfer tubes.
CONSTITUTION: A gas 1 containing dust and fine adhesive droplets, e.g. tar, is introduced into a cooler 2, and subjected to the heat exchange with cooling water in vertical heat transfer tubes 3. The wall surface temperature of the heat transfer tubes 3 is kept at 150°C or above to maintain the fluidity of the tar and drop the tar on the tube wall surface by the own weight. The recovered tar is then directly injected from a nozzle 10 into a scrubber 9 in which the function of an oil scrubber is imparted to the outlet channel thereof to cool the tar and the gas still more and expect the washing effect of the tar mist and the dust. The resultant substance containing a liquid and a gas is passed through a conduit 11 to a gas-liquid separator 12 and separated into the product gas 13 and the liquid (tar), which is then recycled through the scrubber nozzle 10.
