Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain excellent ink particles including no particles of small diameter by setting the dimension of a nozzle so as for ink in the nozzle to perform fluid resonance at the double of frequency F in the device preparing F pieces of ink particles every second from a nozzle orifice by exciting the same at the frequency F. CONSTITUTION:The electromechanical transducing element 31 of a nozzle body 32 having a length of L is excited by an excitation wave 35 of frequency F, while pressurized ink is supplied to the nozzle body. On the occasion, when the nozzle orifice is small enough compared with the inside diameter of the nozzle body, the length of the nozzle is set by such a method as shown in the formula (where F is the excitation frequency of the excitation wave, C is the speed of sound transmitted through the ink fluid and n is an integer greater than 1), that is, so that ink 34 in the nozzle is made to perform fluid resonance at the double of the excitation frequency F. When the ink excited at F=100kHz and pressurized at a prescribed level is supplied, the ink particles jetted from the nozzle orifice grow with constrictions given periodically by the effect of excitation and thus the flying condition for preparing ink particles is realized in the wide range of operation condition without producing the particles of small diameter from the tip part of an ink column.
