Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the quality of recovered converter gas, by controlling the flow rate of suction gas on the basis of the content of a prescribed element in the suction gas so as to maintain the sucked air at a proper quantity. CONSTITUTION:Converter gas is recovered by a blower 16 through a flue 14 and a hood 12 provided at the circumference of the throat 10a of a converter 10. The composition (N2 concn., Ar concn.) and flow rate of suction gas are detected by an analytical instrument 20 for the suction gas and an arithmetic unit 28 for the flow rate of suction gas, and such a flow rate of suction gas that corresponds to the proper quantity of suction air is calculated by an arithmetic unit 30 for set value on the basis of N2 content of the suction gas, the calculated proper quantity is used as a set gas quantity Qset. A control device 34 for the flow rate of suction gas opens or shuts a flow rate control valve 32 on the basis of the flow rate Qset thereby controlling the suction flow rate.
