Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove noise signals proper to metal wire effectively by automatically setting the phase of synchronizing signals used for obtaining only signals corresponding to flaw signals.
CONSTITUTION: Detected signals including flaw signals and noise signals pass through a search coil 14, an AC bridge circuit 16 and a high frequency amplification circuit 18 and are phase-detected by a phase detector 20. On the other hand, a detected signal 3 from the high frequency amplifier 18 is phase-detected by phase detectors 32A, 32B using 0° and 90° snychronizing signals 2A, 2B obtained by phase-shifting a synchronizing signal 2 from an oscillator 12 with a phase shifter 30 as standard signals and becomes analog signals corresponding to the phase differences from the standard signals. These analog signals are inputted to a differential amplifier 38 via filters 34A, 34B and both side detectors 36A, 36B. The output of the differential amplifier 38 drives a servo motor 28. Synchronizing signals from the oscillator 12 are phase-shifted by the servo motor 28.
