CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm is produced by making thermosetting resin 2 included in aromatic polyamide fiber layer 1, sandwiching thermoplastic film 3 between two fiber layers 1 and then heat-pressing these layer. In case of the production of diaphragms, fiber layer 1 is produced by dipping aromatic polyamide fiber into the solution which makes the fiber swell and soften, for example, the mixture of sulfuric acid 16pts., methanol 42pts. (weight ratio) at room temperature, dipping the surface of treated fiber with a beater or refiner to make it fibril or make it raise and then paper-making the treated fiber. Since intertwinement between fibers is increased as mentioned above, diaphragms with hihg rigidity can be obtained.
