Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyester of low polymerization degree is mixed with a specific amount of a specific polycarbonate and melt spun, then treated with an alkali to produce fiber of high pilling resistance, high strength and elongation with no formation fluffs and the like in good spinning operability.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester with an intrinsic viscosity of lower than 0.55, such as polyethylene terephthalate, is mixed with 1W10, preferably 2W8wt% of a bisphenol type polycarbonate, preferably bisphenol-A polycarbonate of less than 10 polymerization degree and they are melt spun, preferably drawn to make fibers of higher than 3.5g/dl strength.
