Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce size, enhance reliability and decrease losses by forming the circuit to such construction comprising having a conical recess, providing a reflecting material on the inside wall thereof to provide the reflecting surface and inserting the ends of three or more optical fibers exposed of their core portions into the recess. CONSTITUTION:A conical recess 31a of a diameter 1mm. and depth 2mm. is provided to a reflecting material 31 composed of metals, resins, etc. and the reflecting film using gold or other materials is applied on its inside surface. The end of each optical fiber is formed into the shape comprising gradually decreasing the clad (d) at the end part and exposing the core (c). The ends of the optical fibers 32-38 are collectively inserted into the recess 31a. The exposed core portions are fixed in the mutually proximate state. The divergent light out from the optical fiber 32 is reflected by the reflecting film of the recess 31a and is efficiently distributed to the optical fibers 32-38. This light distributing circuit is small in size, is high in reliability and less in loss.
