Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance developing performance in a simple structure, by accumulating a toner in a constant volume between a developing roller and a photosensitive drum and compressing the toner compulsively.
CONSTITUTION: Magnetic roller 2 has rotary magnets 21 and nonmagnetic sleeve 22 on the outer circumference of magnets 21, and forms magnetic brush 6 of single component type magnetic toner 4 supplied. Clockwise rotation of magnets 21 conveyes toner 4 anticlockwise to introduce it in a space formed by controlling plate 5, roller 2, and a photosensitive drum 1 between drum 1 and hopper 3. Continuous feed of toner 4 causes toner accumulation and compulsive compression to form compressed toner zone 7, always holding a constant amount of toner accumulated during the developing step. Thus, positively causing accumulation and compulsive compression permits enhanced development performance to be exhibited in a simple structure.
