Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance steel material resistance to heat and corrosion in an extremely simply manner by a method wherein Al is preliminarily diffused into the surface of steel material to form solid solution, then solid Al is rubbed into the surface while removing oxide layer at a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:Al is diffused into the surface of steel material to form solid solution by use of diffusion penetration process. Then, from the surface of steel material, surface oxide is removed by mechanical means such as wire brushing or grinder abrasion at temperature of 600-800 deg.C. Immediately, at this temperature, solid Al is rubbed into the surface having diffused Al solid solution, so that Al is melted to form Al layer that enhances the steel material resistance to heat and corrosion. In this case, Al layer may be further heated to form secondary diffusion layer, so that Fe-Al intermetallic compound may be formed.
