Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent manitenance characteristics of electrolyte by using a woven resin fabric or a non woven resin fablic, composed of a polymer of either ethylene or propylene and a monomer represented by a certain general formula. CONSTITUTION:A woven fabric or non woven fablic composed of a resin fiber of a polymer of either ethylene or propylene and a monomer represented by the general formula as shown (R1: hydrogen atom or methyl redical, R2: hydrogen atom or alkaline radical) is used. As an example, a separator for Ni-Cd battery is obtained by a graft-polymerization of methl acrylate at the rate of 3-30mol% by irradiating radiation energy on the non woven fablic composed of polyethylene fiber having the porosity of about 60% and the thickness of about 120mu.
