Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent negative electrode active substance from becoming coarse due to repetition of charging and discharging by allowing a porous separator consisting of synthetic resin fiber of polyolefin type to contain fine powder of cellulose. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of pellet polyethylene, fine powder of silica, fine powder of methylcellulose, and dioctyl phthalate of plastitizer is heated, kneaded, and extruded to accomplish a sheet. The plastitizer is extracted from the sheet thus obtained by the use of trichlene to provide a separator. With this separator a sealed Ni-Cd accumulator is obtained. Reversals of 4hr. charging with 0.3c current and 45min. discharging with 1c current do not present any significant drop of the 1c discharge capacity.
