Abstract
PURPOSE: The suspension polymerization of an epoxy resin solution in a polymerizable monomer mixture is conducted in an aqueous medium in the presence of an alcohol sulfate ester salt and a colloidal silica, thus giving title water-based dispersion composition having high stability and compatibility and giving coating films with high gloss, water and erosion resistances.
CONSTITUTION: An epoxy resin is dissolved in a monomer mixture containing 0W2 wt% of polymerizable carboxylic acid monomers and acrylamide or methacrylamide bearing N-methylol at a weight ratio of 2/98W30/70. Then, 100 parts by wt of the polymerizable monomer mixture is suspended in an aqueous medium in the presence of 0.1W3 parts of an alcohol sulfate ester salt or alkylarylsulfonate salt and 0.2W3 parts of coloidal silica and polymerized to give said water-based resin dispersion composition.
