Abstract

PURPOSE: A phenolic substance is dissolved in a polymerizable monomer and the emulsion or suspension polymerization is effected in the water, thus producing title dispersion that is used ad coating for pressure-sensitive recording because of its high stability while stood, fine particle size, high solid content and low viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: (A) a phenolic substance as 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol, is dissolved in (B) a plymerizable monomer with double bonds or monomer mixture as methyl methacrylate or butyl acrylate and the emulsion or suspension polymerization in water is carried out in the presence of a surfactant as polyoxyethylenenonyl- phenyl ether and a plymerization initiator as ammonium persulfate to produce the objective dispersion.
EFFECT: Since the average particle size can be made fine to a level of 0.1 micron, the resulting dispersion has high standing stability and gives smooth coating surfaces.
