Abstract

PURPOSE: To let good low yield ratio and artificial age hardness after working be stably obtained by hot-rolling the steel of the specified composition, quenching the same under the specific temperature conditions and controlling the variations and upper limit of coiling temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The steel containing C; 0.03W0.13%, Mn; 0.8W1.7%, Al; 0.1% or less is hot-rolled and its finishing temperature is kept at 750W860°C to make the 2-phase coexistence temperature region of ferrite α and austenite γ. Thence, it is quenched at the mean cooling rate of 30W500°C/sec. and is coiled at 230°C or less. The upper and lower limits of the variations of the temperature at this coiling are so controlled as to come within the temperature width of 100°C. This methods yields the hot-rolled steel plate of low yield ratio and high strength which has composite structure as hot-rolled and is superior in artificial age hardness after working. If this is used for automotive material and the like, the thickness of the material may be reduced.
