Abstract
PURPOSE:To lower temperature of fire point to suppress the production of smoke and dust as well as to ease the recovery of combustible exhaust gas and stabilize operation by mixing CO2 in oxygen for blowing or using the same alone at the time of refining steel in an oxgyen top blowing converter. CONSTITUTION:At the time of refining molten iron to steel in the oxygen top blowing converter, the temperature of fire point becomes extremely high owing to exothermic reaction of O2 and the C in the molten iron, casuing Fe to evaporate. This solidifies to fine Fe or is oxidized to Fe2O3 by air or the molten iron of the fire point is directly oxidized by O2 to produce a large amount of Fe, Fe2O3-base smoke and dust, thereby increasing the burden of a dust collector. At this time, CO2 gas is mixed in O2 or used alone. The reaction of CO2 and C is endothermic reaction, which lowers the temperature of the fire point and this results in considerably reduced production amount of the above-mentioned Fe, Fe2O3-base smoke and dust hence reduced burden of the dust collector to prevent the occurrence of its troubles, thereby stabilizing its operation and easing the recovery of the combustible exhaust gas containing CO.
