Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a battery which stands floating charging, whose capacity dispersion is small, and productivity is high, by the use of a positive plate made by compressing a sintered granular active material and a negative plate which is made by compressing a granular active material.
CONSTITUTION: A compressed positive plate 13 is enclosed in a battery jar 11 which is also a positive electrode, and a compressed negative plate 14 is provided with a separator 15 being intervened. The negative plate 14 is compressed by a compressing spring 16, and sealing is made by a cover 12 which is also a negative electrode, thereby a flat-shaped battery is obtained. The positive plate 13 is formed by compressing the powder which is made by crushing a sintered granular active material, e.g. a sintered base plate into which nickel hydroxide is impregnated, into the granule size that can pass through 50 mesh. The negative plate 14 is formed by compressing a granular active material whose main component is, for example, cadmium hydroxide.
