Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A current is supplied from axial generating set 4 to synchronous rotary phase modifier 8 by way of converter 5, DC reactor 6 and inverter 7 and when rotary phase modifier 8 increases in speed through natural commutation up to a rotation speed where automatic voltage regulator 14 starts operating, the voltage across rotary phase modifier 8 is increased up to a fixed value. This valtage is detected by voltage level detector 27 and on the basis of this detected signal, start controller 17 is supplied with a signal to send a change signal for a current set value to converter 5 by the received signal, so that the current set value of converter 5 will be changed from the start current to a normal operation current. Then, the commutating performance of inverter 7 is increased to secure the commutation of inverter 7, so that rotary phase modifier 8 will be increased in speed quickly and smoothly.
