Abstract

PURPOSE:The captioned welding rod which has the coating of the steel core wire by the coating agent containing respectively limited ratios of CaCO3, graphite and CaF2 and the rest composed of slag forming agent, deoxitizer and limited amount of iron powder and which is good in the circumferential welding work of steel pipes. CONSTITUTION:The captioned welding rod coated with the coating agent which contains CaCO3; 60-75wt%, graphite; 0.1-0.7wt% and CaF2 of 0.1-0.2 in compounding ratio to CaCO3 and is composed of the rest of slag forming agent, deoxidizer and limited amount of iron content of 7wt% or less. The deoxidizer composed primarily of Si and Mn and further added with Al, Ti, etc. is used. SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, MnO and MgO are used for the slag forming agent. In order to facilitate the down welding of the entire circumference of the steel pipes in particular of the case when this welding rod is used, i.e., to prevent the drooping down of the slag, it is necessary that the weight ratio of the coating agent for the core wire be made 0.23-0.33.
