Abstract
PURPOSE: In carbon steel core, an amount of O, S are resticted, and a specific amount of one or more of Ti, Zr, Al, Mg, and Ca is added, thereby to provide a low hydrogen system, coated arc welding rod capable of producing highly shock resistant welding metal.
CONSTITUTION: A carbon steel including C: 0.003% or less, and S: 0.002% or less is used as a core wire, and the surface of the wire is coated by using binder with a coating material consisting of, the total of one or more of Ti, Zr, Al, Mg, Ca,:0.5 to 5%, the total of one or more of CaCO3, MgCO3, BaCO3: 7 to 58%, the total of one or more of CaF2, MgF2, AlF3, Na3AlF6:1 to 30%, Si: 1 to 8%, Mn: 2 to 9%, Fe and Fe powder in Fe alloy converted as Fe: 40% or less, the balance being slag forming agent and arc stabilizer. By using such welding rod, non-metal inclusion is reduced in the welding metal, providing fine-granule, uniform structure, thereby enhancing COD value of welding metal.
