Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the water quality suited for drinking water by letting the water flow of corrosive quality of high salt concentration and organic contents contact alkaline earth metal compounds. CONSTITUTION:If marble, crystalline limeston, etc. composed primarily of CaCO3 are let to exist in the water flow of corrosive quality such as natural water or purified water of low pH, industrial water or the like, then they gradually dissolve and further react with the CO2 gas and lower organic acids in the water, thereby increasing its pH and m-alkalinity. Particularly the use of corallite is effective in perfectly removing heavy metal ions. Since alkaline earth metal compounds are low in solubility, there is no danger of exceeding the permissible range of pH as with alkaline metal compounds.
