Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a fuel steam through keeping pressure in piping at a given value or over by driving a fuel pump when pressure in the fuel piping drops below the given value as long as ambient temperature of the fuel piping is high even where an engine is kept at shutdown. CONSTITUTION:Where an engine is at shutdown, a fuel pump 13 also stops simultaneously, however, fuel pipings a, b on downstream side of the pump 13 are closed by check valves 17-19, a residual pressure of the fuel lower than an open valve pressure of the check valves 18, 19 is retained. In this case, pressure in a line a is detected by a pressure sensor 21, cooling water temperature or temperature of the ?engine proper is detected by a temperature sensor 10, and each output is sent to a control unit 4. Then, when the control unit 4 detects that the fuel pressure is lower than a given value while the temperature is higher than a given value, a switch 23 of the electric fuel pump 13 is turned on, and the driven pump 13 keeps the fuel pressure in pipings a, b higher.
