Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in transfer efficiency and prevent the variations in image density and increase in ground stains by detecting the surface potentials decreasing according to the degradation of belt-form photoreceptor and performing operation controlling of a light source lamp and charger. CONSTITUTION:To the corona discharge electrode 11 of a charger 12 is connected a member 19 which controls the discharge potential for this electrode 11. This discharge control member 19 controls the discharge electrode 11 in the relation inversely proportional to the output of a potential detecting member 22 which detects the surface potential of a photoconductor sheet 2. A light source lamp 20 is also connected a light quantity control member 21 and is controlled of its light quantity by the light quantity control member 21 according to the output of the detecting member 22. Hence, arrangement is so made to increase the radiation quantity of light from the light source lamp 20 with progression in the degradation of the photosensitive drum and therefore the decrease in transfer efficiency may be prevented and the variations in image density prevented.
