Abstract

PURPOSE:To hole the surface potentials of a photoreceptor always in an optimum state and even the image density by providing a control unit which detects the ambient temperature of the photoreceptor and so constituting the same that a pre- exposure destaticizing lamp flickers at the specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:When a temperature detector 12 is detecting that the temperature is within 40 deg.C, a destaticizing lamp 10 lights and pre-exposes a drum 1. A charging charger 2 charges the drum by holding the surface potentials thereof at 500V or more. When the ambient temperature of the drum 1 rises and the temperature detector 12 detects 40 deg.C or more, an electric signal is sent to a control part 13 which in turn achieves putting out of the destaticizing lamp 10. Hence, the decrease in the surface potentials of the drum 1 with an increase in temperature is prevented and the optimum image density may be obtained. There is no hindrance even if copying operation is continued while the destaticizing lamp 10 is off. This constitution enables the surface potentials of the photoreceptor to be maintained alwsys in an optimum state.
