Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize iodine ions and sulphate ions, to decompose water efficiently in a thermochemical, reactive manner and to manufacture hydrogen, by a method wherein magnesium ions are jointly used for a method that utilizes sulfur and iodine as circulating substance.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrogen and oxygen are obtained in such a manner that water is decomposed by combining reactions shown in formulae I, II, III, IV. That is, a mixed water solution of MgSO4 and MgI2 is formed by reacting I2 and MgO to sulfite water (the formula I), and a water solution gained is heated, concentrated, evaporated and dried up, and further heated up to approximate 400°C, HI is discharged, and a mixture of MgSO4 and MgO is left (the formula II). The mixture is heated at approximate 1200°C, MgSO4 is decomposed to create SO2 and O2, and solid MgO is left (the formula III) (SO2 and MgO are used for the reaction shown in the formula I in circulating shapes), and HI acquired by the reaction shown in the formula II is decomposed at approximate 300W700°C to form H2 and I2 (the formula IV) (I2 is empolyed for the reaction indicated in the formula I in a circulating manner).
