Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the response frequency of a recording head, by always applying electric pulses of such magnitude to the piezoelectric element of an ink jet recorder that ink is not ejected from a nozzle and by heightening the magnitude of the electric pulses only at the time of printing to eject the ink. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recorder comprises an ink tank 1, an ink chamber 4, a vibrating plate 6, a piezoelectric element 7, etc. When an electric pulse is applied to the piezoelectric element 7, the vibrating plate 6 is deflected inward to raise the pressure of ink 2 in the ink chamber 4 to eject the ink from a nozzle 5. Electric pulses 10 of such magnitude are always applied to the piezoelectric element that the ink 2 is not ejected. Only at the time of printing, an electric pulse 11 of higher magnitude is applied to the piezoelectric element. Since the ink 2 is always slightly vibrated, an external force is applied to the ink 2 to accelerate the restoration of the ink after ejection. This results in attaining high response frequency.
